Much has been achieved at both hotels in the last 12 months. Turnover has grown by 17.4% and their has been significant investment in both premises.
Improvements at the Beaufort have included new furniture from stacking chairs to bar and restaurant furniture, painting the exterior of the building, restaurant update and re-theme, the bar has been improved and additional kitchen facilities installed. A new electronic door locking system has been installed.
At the Stutelea we have installed new gym equipment, redecorated around many parts of the building, refurbished three rooms, installed new carpets and furnishing throughout, bar improvements have been completed and we now have an electronic door locking system.
With these improvements we feel the product is in a much better position to sell and to this end we have set ourselves tough targets for the next 12 months.
Further property improvements mainly at the Stutelea are planned for the winter of 2005
Our overall aim must continue to be committed to the customer by ensuring high standards and a consistent level of service.
One of the main challenges will be to increase occupancy again, without discounts from the agreed rate plan. We will continue to work with the hotel booking agencies and use internet intermediates as much business is being channelled this way.
The predictions look optimistic for the hotel provincial market, the continuing strong economy with inflation steady, interest rates probably peaking (currently relatively low at 4.75%), the promise of a stable political and social situation and returning confidence among hoteliers.
There seems to be increasing regulation and additional legislation which will also result in change in the industry, that of the gaming law review and the proposal to ban smoking in work places engaged in the service of food.
We are proud at both the Beaufort and Sturelea that we have worked well as a team over the last 12 months and my sincere thanks to everyone who have shouldered their commitments.
Here's to the next 12 months!!
